Apparently - at least according to the meteorological calendar - we are now in Spring, although here in the UK, at least, you’d be forgiven for wondering if that was indeed the case.
Meanwhile, I’ve been providing myself some solace with some memories from Spring 2022 when I was on a residency in Scotland, of all places. This is Loch Eil, and that is Ben Nevis - the highest mountain in the UK - behind me.
I was invited to stay at The Lengths, as part of their T R A D E residency programme. I made a long-form piece incorporating field recordings, and the distinctive, rhythmical sound of their unique Art Deco-style Morley piano. Perhaps you’ll get to hear it one day…
Either way, good memories of sunnier days. I hope you’ve had a good week and are looking forward to a summer of nice things.
What’s on your mind?
Hey Sim, just printed out Four Suffolk Sea Scenes from the work printer yesterday (sorry, work!)
What do you think makes for good improv in the section that calls for it in Morn?
Also, very appreciative of the stacked fourths throughout I thought the call back to them at the very end was great and made me giggle. How do you feel about fourths (This may be the nerdiest piano question to ask I can think of currently)? The two measures in Quell, 97 and 98, are amazing.
